In light of that fact, it's highly likely that one day you'll encounter one in the equipment you use at home. When the throttle isn't responding as it should, it's often the fault of an inadequate throttle link adjustment. Fortunately, this is a problem that you can address yourself.

Remove the screws that hold the air cleaner in place with a Phillips-head screwdriver. Remove the air cleaner. Set the air cleaner and screws aside in a safe place. Some Briggs & Stratton models have air cleaners that are held in place with a wing-nut instead of screws.

Harlequin epub free download. Inspect the engine to locate the choke lever, also known as the choke arm. The choke lever is a small, bent arm made from metal or plastic that opens and closes the throttle in response to an adjustment of the throttle lever on the handle of the machine. A small spring is typically attached to the arm. If you can't find it on the engine, inspect the remote engine speed controls for it.

Adjust the throttle lever to the 'Fast' or 'High' setting. Loosen the screw that holds the mounting bracket that supports the cable with a flat-head screwdriver. Loosen it just enough to allow the cable to move through the support freely.

Adjust the throttle cable to the point where the throttle is in the closed position. Tighten the bracket mounting screw to hold the adjustment you've just made. Adjust the throttle lever to its various positions to ensure that the throttle link controls the throttle in accordance with the settings.

Reinstall the air cleaner by screwing it back into place.

• Phillips-head screwdriver
• Flat-head screwdriver

Tip

• Check the air filter during this repair and replace it at the same time if necessary.

Warning

• Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug to prevent inadvertent firing of the engine before undertaking this project.
